RIDE IT RIGHT 2010 - Sunday 19th September from 10am-4pm

'Ride it Right' 2010 is back by popular demand for all you bikers that want to gather en masse, have something to eat and talk about bikes with like minded people. Leave the other half at home unless they know their Castrol oil from their vegetable oil and join Surrey Fire and Rescue once again at Haslemere Community Fire Station in West Street, Haslemere, Surrey, GU27 2AP on Sunday 19th September from 10am-4pm.

Ride it Right is a free event aimed at reducing deaths and injuries involving motorcyclists and is organised by Haslemere Fire Station in partnership with Wey Valley Advanced Motorcyclists.

Now in its fifth year, the safety based bike show was established to help address some alarming statistics - motorcyclists make up just 1% of road users but account for 20% of all deaths and serious injuries on our roads. This is just one shocking statistic the event hopes to reduce by arming riders with the right information.

Ride it Right has become a staple calendar event for the local motorcycle world and has become one of the largest independent bike events in the south. Around 1000 bikers turned up for the 2009 event, for a mixture of great food, good company and maintenance tips.

Some of topics being discussed throughout this year event include:
  • How to be a better rider - hints and tips on how to improve your riding, presented by the Wey Valley Advanced Motorcyclists (an IAM Club)
  • Observed Ride-Outs - also by the Wey Valley Advanced Motorcyclists
  • Tyre safety checks by Rubber Ranch, mobile tyre fitters - covering West Kent Surrey and south London
  • No Spanners Mechanics and Motorcycle Safety Checks - by Dave Thomas of Motorcycle Inspection & Service.
  • Surrey air ambulance and what to do if things go wrong - Surrey air ambulance
  • First aid CPR - by Secamb

Ride it Right has been created to remind motorcyclists of the dangers on the roads, with the ultimate aim to reduce deaths and injuries. Organisers have ensured that the activities planned promise to be of interest to motorcyclists, covering everything from clothing, riding techniques, to what to do if things do go wrong. The aim is not to lecture, but to inform and for attendees to ask questions.

As well as informative discussions, a number of local motorcycle dealers will also attend, including Vines Bikes, who will be showcasing the latest BMW models and equipment available. Vines Bikes, which has showrooms in Guildford and Caterham, has supported Ride it Right for a number of years now and hold safety top of its agenda. At  www.vinesguildfordmotorrad.co.uk bikers can find lots of helpful information about taking care of their bike, seasonal advice for the winter, advice on oil and much more. Vines Bikes hopes to see all bikers that read this will attend the event.

This year’s Ride it Right event is set to be even bigger than last year and as always, the event is completely free, anyone can attend and most importantly there will be the infamous triple 'BBB' Bikers Breakfast Burger to the first 1000 motorcyclists that attend – arrive early to avoid disappointment!

No need to book, just turn up and enjoy the day.
