BMW Motorrad celebrates 30 years of the GS with a limited edition GS range


BMW Motorrad is celebrating 30 years of the iconic ‘Gelande-Strasse’ (on/off-
road) range in 2010. Launching the “30 Years GS” limited edition versions of
the BMW R 1200 GS, the R 1200 GS Adventure, the F 800 GS and the F 650
GS, BMW Motorrad is paying tribute to the outstanding success and popularity
of the GS concept.

Back in the autumn of 1980, BMW Motorrad unveiled the R 80 G/S, a unique
motorcycle that pioneered the Adventure Motorcycling genre. Offering the
unique combination of on-road, touring and off-road qualities, without the
slightest compromise in everyday use, the R 80 G/S paved the way as a brand-
new concept, the first true Adventure Sport motorcycle.

The special edition “30 Years GS” models feature the celebrated BMW
Motorsports colours of the legendary eighties’ R 80 G/S Rally Raiders that
propelled the likes of Hubert Auriol to victories in gruelling Paris-Dakar races,
almost three decades ago.

As well as the glorious retro colour scheme, each “30 Years GS” model has a
range of additional features and equipment.

The “30 Year GS” range will be launched at Vines BMW Motorrad Dealers on 19th June
when prices will be announced.

Corks pop at Loseley House to celebrate the launch of music extravaganza LoseleyLIVE


LoseleyLIVE in association with the Vines Group, a tribute music extravaganza and firework display to be held on Sunday 29th August was launched in style this Monday, with a champagne reception at the magnificent Loseley House.


Joined by Lee Pashley as Robbie Williams, Abba tribute, Abba Inferno and John Andrew from the Saturday Night BeeGees, guests got a taste of what’s set to come this August bank holiday weekend.

The launch was also attended by LoseleyLIVE’s chosen charity CHASE, with two of the families the charity supports. LoseleyLIVE was proud to invite the Clark and Nind families down to have their pictures taken with ‘Robbie’ and Abba Inferno. Adam Clark, aged 8, beamed from ear to ear as he climbed onto a BMW motorbike, capable of speeds up to 200mph and supplied by The Vines Group.


Philip Pride from Stadia Events, creators and promoters of LoseleyLIVE, said: “We had a fantastic afternoon and it was great to see the children’s faces when they saw the performers in full costume! It was best possible way to kick-start the event and we’re counting down to August 29th”. 

Adult tickets are £23 each, a saving of £5, and £8 each for children between 5 and 15 years, when booked in advance of the event. Admission for children aged under 5 is free. Family tickets are available to book at the early bird discounted rate of £55 to include two adults and up to 3 children, 15 years or under. Alternatively, tickets can be purchased on the day (subject to availability) at £28 for adults and £10 for children between 5 and 15 years. Car parking and children’s attractions and entertainment are free.

Gates open at 3pm, with the first live performance from the Saturday Night BeeGees at 6pm, followed by Lee Pashley recreating Robbie Williams at his very best. Abba Inferno is due to headline at 9pm and will precede the fireworks finale at 10.15pm, choreographed by Aurora Fireworks.

The third annual D Day Rideout weekend is once again being organised by GBRiders.com, Knobblies.org and Eurokclub.com and some fantastic routes have been mapped out for riders to enjoy.

This is not only going to be a great weekend of riding on your bike and meeting up with other bikers, but you will also be helping to raise vital money for Aspire, a charity that provides practical support to people with spinal cord injuries throughout the UK to ensure they can lead fulfilled and independent lives.

We'll be going out by Eurotunnel early Saturday morning and returning on Sunday afternoon.

BMW S 1000 RR voted - Best sports motorcycle

Winning the overall ranking in style, being victorious in two categories and scoring four more top ten positions in the reader’s vote "The best sports motorcycles 2010“ of  PS (Das Sport-Motorrad Magazin) BMW Motorrad continues their success story. It was crowned with winning the title “Best motorcycle brand”.

"I’m glad to hear of the overwhelming victory of our new S 1000 RR in this vote focussed on sporty motorcycles. I would like to thank the readers of PS most sincerely for their votes. This reflects the enormous enthusiasm for our products.”, said Hendrik von Kuenheim, Head of BMW Motorrad, commenting on the result of the vote.

With BMW Motorrad represented in the category “Best sport motorcycle over 700 cc” with a 4-cylinder supersports bike for the first time, the new BMW S 1000 RR won this class at the first go, thereby underscoring its superior technical conception combining highest performance with Race ABS and Dynamic Traction Control DTC.

At the same time the S 1000 RR secured the title"

"Best sports motorcycle" by a wide margin. The BMW K 1300 S came undisputedly in first in the category “Best sporty all-rounder”. More top ten finishes were achieved by the BMW Motorrad models R 1200 GS Adventure, F 800 GS, K 1300 R und HP2 Sport.

In addition BMW Motorrad won the title "Best motorcycle brand".

After the S 1000 RR being voted “Motorcycle of the Year 2010″ in the readers’ vote of the motorcycle magazine MOTORRAD with numerous victories in categories in March 2010, BMW Motorrad models were able to achieve the second outstanding success within short time by winning the PS readers’ vote.

At the Monza circuit, Troy Corser secured his 129th WSBK podium in the second race and the teams first ever World Superbike podium. Ruben Xaus posted his best ever result for the team, with a sixth place in race one. Sounds promising for the following races.
