Adstone, Northants Round 7 & 8
Heavy rain and an extreme track made for an impossible sighting lap on the start of round 7. I decided to hope for better conditions and save my energy for round 8. Luckily the weather kept dry to give me better riding conditions for the second day. Riding was far from easy. The extreme section had no 'chicken run' and was the most challenging so far. Tyres, boulders and logs repeated in various combinations were hard work. With the smaller wheels I struggled more on obstacles with poorer ground clearance, but at least I had a chance of reaching the floor and keeping the bike upright! The day stayed dry and I finished 5th in my class. Hopefully my luck would be better for the next race.
Canada Heights, Kent Rounds 9 & 10
The final rounds of the BSEC were held at Canada Heights motocross track. It is known as one of the best tracks in the UK. Andy Tizzard at VInes Guildford kindly warned me of the horror of the track if wet. Feeling suitably nervous and praying it wouldn't rain, I was pleasently surprised that the sun shone for us all weekend. The track was fantastic with a good mix of woodland, obstacles and open fast track. The bike felt the best it had all season having fitted Marzocchi forks. Cornering felt positive and I could finally feel confident to hit the jumps with more speed. I finished the weekend and the championship 4th overall. Aiming for the podium next year!!!
Well done Steph, keep up the good work!
