Bloomingdale’s Fashion Campaign

BMW Motorcycles Partners With Bloomingdale’s For Fall Fashion Campaign

BMW Motorcycles is revving up Bloomingdale’s Fall fashion campaign.  The BMW R 1200 R Classic is featured in the men’s department at Bloomingdale’s stores nationwide, inside the fall men’s catalog, and in the store windows of Bloomingdale’s flagship store on 59th St. in Manhattan, NY.  And that’s not all!  Shoppers will also have the opportunity to win their very own bike – both in-store and on www.bloomingdales.com.

“Partnering with Bloomingdales is a natural extension of the BMW brand as both a cultural and product icon,” observed James Callahan, Marketing Communications Manager, BMW Motorrad USA.  “For decades, our bikes have been featured in films, music videos, magazine photo shoots and special events.  From James Bond to “Jay Leno’s Garage” and the recent Summer Olympics, BMW motorcycles are seen and ridden ‘round the globe.”

Bloomingdale’s new “On the Road” shops for guys on-the-go celebrate the “moto trend” with cool travel essentials like leather fingerless gloves, hooded knits, leather totes, cool tees, and the opportunity to check out the BMW R 1200 R Classic in person.

According to Mr. Callahan, the in-store motorcycle displays in Bloomingdale’s men’s departments are turning more than a few heads.  “An R 1200 R was sold the very first day it appeared in the Tyson’s Corner, VA Bloomingdale’s store,” he reported.

Sir…Would you like the bike giftwrapped with the belt?

BMW R7 motorcycle

One-of-a-kind art deco concept from 1930s honored at world’s most prestigious concours d’elegance
Woodcliff Lake, NJ – August 20, 2012… The BMW R7 motorcycle won best-in-class in the Motorcycle class at the 2012 Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance. The award was received by Karl Baumer, Head of BMW Group Classic.

“The BMW R7 is one of the most extraordinary motorcycles in our collection,” noted Baumer upon receiving the award. “We are delighted that the effort to bring the BMW R7 to the Pebble Beach Concours was rewarded with Best in Class for Motorcycles.”

The 2012 Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance featured motorcycles from Germany. On the cusp of its 90th year of motorcycle production it was only natural that BMW would feature prominently.

The BMW R7 motorcycle was created in 1934 at the height of the art deco movement which heavily influenced its design. It was created as a concept but never put into production making this R7 the only one of its kind in the world. It had not been seen for nearly 70 years when it was discovered in 2005 whereupon it was painstakingly restored by BMW Group Classic. It is now a part of BMW Group Classic’s extensive collection of significant BMW cars and motorcycles.

Riding into Redhill

Dear Valued Vines Customers,

Choosing your dealership is an important consideration; Vines always look to provide the best possible sales and aftersales service, showroom and customer waiting area for all BMW riders.

F 700 GS & F 800 GS

BMW MOTORRAD LAUNCHES NEW F 700 GS AND F 800 GS.
BMW Motorrad will unveil the new F 700 GS and F 800 GS at the 2012 Motorrad Days festival in Garmish-Partenkirchen 06-08 July. Based around the acclaimed economical and punchy 798cc parallel-twin engine and sporting new restyled bodywork, these two new additions to the iconic GS range offer two exciting, alternative takes on the adventure motorcycle for riders who tend towards either off-road adventure or on-road touring.

The new F 800 GS combines suitability for road use and touring with superior off-road qualities, bringing the two worlds together to an extent not previously seen in this class of motorcycle.

By contrast, the new F 700 GS is geared more towards motorcyclists who do not yet need quite the same level of off-road expertise. Its strengths are a lower seating height, all-round capabilities for everyday use and more than sufficient power while also offering outstanding economy. The F 700 GS also boasts a modest, yet noticeable, increase in both power and torque on the F 650 GS it replaces, as well as adds a second brake disc at the front.

Both the 2013 F 700 GS and F 800 GS will feature ABS as standard. BMW Motorrad’s new ‘Safety 360º' initiative means that all BMW motorcycles from the model year 2013 onwards will come with ABS as standard, significantly pre-empting the requirement for ABS for new registered motorcycles in Europe likely to be introduced in 2016.

BMW Motorrad has begun the next chapter of the GS success story with the updated versions of these two successful adventure-sports motorcycles. From creating the class with the legendary R 80 G/S in 1980, to the very latest additions to the GS range, BMW Motorrad is consistently focusing on building on the characteristic strengths of the GS and refining the concept of the adventure motorcycle.

A provisional Launch date for the BMW F 700 GS & F 800 GS here in the UK is September 2012, with prices to be announced later in the year.

BMW C evolution Test

Double Olympic champion Katarina Witt tests the “BMW C evolution” zero-emission electric scooter. 40 years after the Munich Games in 1972: BMW Group Olympic Ambassador visits Deutsches Haus.

The Summer Olympic Games in London are currently thrilling the international public – just as the Munich Games did with their unique atmosphere 40 years ago. To mark the 40th anniversary of the Munich Olympics, BMW Group Olympic Ambassador Katarina Witt was invited to a Munich ’72 theme evening at the Deutsches Haus (German house) in London on Thursday.

The double Olympic figure skating champion took the opportunity to test the BMW C evolution as a passenger on the production-based prototype of a powerful electric scooter. The smart two-seater is currently being presented to the international press in London. The motto of the 2012 Olympic Games – Inspire a Generation – could almost have been written for the innovative scooter, which is the latest result of the BMW Group’s sustainability and future strategy.

“The BMW C evolution not only looks cool, but also features cutting-edge technology,” said Witt. “With this electric scooter, BMW is once again demonstrating its high levels of innovation. The BMW Group was involved in the marathon and walking races at the 1972 Olympic Games in Munich with the BMW 1602 electric car. As such, today’s anniversary event sees the issue of environmentalism come full circle.”

Five fully roadworthy prototypes of the BMW C evolution will be put to the test in the London traffic until 12th August. This will be followed by outings in other major European cities. The practical experience gained will allow BMW Motorrad to prepare for the future launch of the production vehicle.

The BMW Group, the most sustainable automobile manufacturer in the world, is the Automobile Partner of the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Summer Games in London, where it is providing about 4,000 low-emission vehicles for athletes, officials and the organisation team.

The BMW Group Olympic Ambassador was joined at the “40 Years on from the Munich Games” celebration at the Deutsches Haus by Bavarian minister for economic affairs Martin Zeil, Munich’s second mayoress Christine Strobl, honorary member of the National Olympic Committee Walter Tröger and Michael Vesper, Chef de Mission of the German Olympic Sports Confederation (DOSB) team in London.
